Up until her very departure for her knew school Moeder and Vader had assured Elise that The WorldWide School was top dollar and she'd be receiving one of the best educations possible along with the pleasure of experiencing a vast variety of different cultures. Which was all peaches in cream in retrospect until you read the fine print, which stated very clearly: All Dormitories are CO-ED... Elise didn't even get the chance to finish reading the sentence before being thrown into a world of hysterics. (which didn't do much for any of the other passengers on board the flight either.) So, for the entire flight from Europe to America, Elise had been religiously rereading that single sentence over and over hoping and praying this was some type of typo. The School faculty had to be joking, after all there was no way boys and girls could live together in the same room, it was impossible! Elise knew this by experience, for eight years of her life she'd roomed with two older broeders and everyday fighting and crying and ensured without fail. Elise sunk into the back of the leather seat clutching at the school pamphlet until the paper dug into her ivory pale skin. This had to be some sort of mistake... There had been no mistake, as one of the faculty clearly explained to the Belgian girl. The Dormitories at The WorldWide School were co-ed and roomed not two, but four roommates at a time. Elise, taken aback by the last part had flung open the pamphlet to the student housing and nearly fainted at the information right in front of her. Unable to make her mouth work properly Elise stood gaping at the unknown teacher who only sighed and responded with: "A girl your age, I thought you'd be happy? You might have a cute roommate." He gave Elise a cheerful smile and began leading her to her doom in dorm room 102 Once she was safe and sound inside her room (how'd she'd gotten here and the route taken had flown completely over the girl's head.) Elise managed to reclaim control over her mouth and spat out. "Cute or not, there's a thing called privacy you know!?" Too bad the mysterious teacher had vanished beforehand. Elise gave a long pitiful sigh as she turned to examine the room she would be calling home for the next year. No, this wasn't home. Elise corrected her mistake, this was simply a place she would be living in. After all, a home was where you were loved, a place you knew, and with people who could tell just by the way you smiled if something was wrong. At least the place was clean and properly organized. With four different beds all equipped with a night table, dresser, and area for study each student had their own personal space, however it was unknown if her roommates knew a thing about privacy. Noticing a bed with red, orange, and yellow sheets a small smile found its way to the girls face. The bed set she'd picked out a few weeks before her departure had made it safe and sound. Rolling her luggage over to the bed, she struggled for a second to hoist up the trunk so she could begin putting away her things and make this unknown room more comfortable.

The Japanese boy bowed his head quickly and thanked the school's assistant after being handed a small sheet of paper and a key to his new room. He unfolded it as he started down the long hallway towards the dormitories and nearly dropped the single, measly suitcase he was carrying. It had his room number and roommates on it in small print, but there must have been a mistake. Or he needed his eyes checked or something. He squeezed his eyes shut and re-read the slip of paper.
"Elise Demotte."
No, he hadn't misread it. Wasn't 'Elise' a female name? He was sharing a room with a girl...? That couldn't be right. Kiku stopped walking and looked around for a teacher of some sort that could clear this confusion. He located one and approached them, politely clearing his throat.
"Ah, excuse me sir, but I was wondering if there could be an error on this paper...it says I'll be sharing a room with a girl." he explained as politely as possible; he didn't want to come off as bothered by the incident.
The man's lips curved into a small smile. "No, you're reading it right. The dormitories are co-ed."
"I see...th-thank you." he bowed his head and shuffled away in an attempt to hide the blush creeping onto his cheeks.
Suddenly, America didn't seem like such a great place to the Japanese teen. His conservative nature frowned upon the school's seeming encouragement of inappropriate activity. Maybe that was acceptable in the United States, but he swore to himself he would only use his room for sleep.
Kiku reached his dorm and double checked the number, 102, before unlocking the door. He rested his hand on the handle for a moment, praying Elise wouldn't be in the room already, and pushed it open. To his dismay, a blond European was standing by one of the beds and unpacking. Relax, Kiku. Act natural, greet her or something. he told himself silently and took a deep breath. "Herr-Hello," he called, fighting to contain his Engrish with a pink face, and stepped inside.

The tedious task of unpacking started with Elise carefully removing five parcels wrapped up tightly in one of the Belgian newspapers from a little over four days ago. Setting them down gently, Elise went about unwrapping each to reveal five very elaborate picture frames with the face of her loved one's she'd left back in Bruges. Her petite hands hovered momentarily over the one frame covered in silver crafted bows and fancy designs, there staring back at her were the smiling faces of both her parents, this particular picture had been taken only a few weeks ago so every single wrinkle in their faces were accurate. Smiling sadly, she placed the picture and the other three of her brothers and pets on the desk. The last picture, one with all her family members was placed neatly one the side table and angled just so, should she ever want to look at it, she'd need only shift her glance. Satisfied with how things were going, Elise set out to really put a dent into her unpacking. It started with taking out the five blouses which she would wear once a week along with the uniform issued skirt. It could have been worse, she supposed as she neatly put the clothes into their proper place. The uniform could have been ugly. Next socks, underwear, and bra's; Elise sang at her good luck, how embarrassing would it have been if one of her male roommates was around while she was putting away her underwear? At that very instant the lock clicked and the door opened, reparation kicked in and out of habit the blond turned to greet whoever was coming in. "Oh!" instantly, Elise remembered she was not in her own room, but in a dorm and she just happened to be holding a pair of bikini kitty panties (oh the torture...XDD )) in her hand. "Hallo..ugh.." Silence over came the two and Elise, awkwardly pulled at the panties, noticed what she was doing, and swiftly chucked them into the drawer with all her other girly things. "Sorry! Um...don't worry I don't leave things like that around, so hopefully you wont ever see those again! Ugm...." a fiery blush overtook her features as she held out a hand in greeting. "Elise Demotte, that's my name. I'm from Brugges Belgium and it's a pleasure to meet you."

His nervous smile dropped as she turned around, uttering a quiet, surprised cry, wondering if he'd frightened her. Kiku was unsure why she'd been startled by his entrance; she knew she had roommates, didn't she? He couldn't blame her, though. He wasn't too fond of the idea of people living in the same small space as him either.
Suddenly the answer came to him as he gave the girl a quick visual examination and his face turned red as well. The modest boy quickly averted his eyes as they met her ostentatious undergarment and cleared his throat uncomfortably. He completely disregarded his prior observations, having noticed multiple picture frames behind her, a bright ribbon in her hair, and, though he wouldn't admit it to himself, her slight cuteness. But that was forgotten at the sight of her unpacking her very personal items.
"Y-yes..." he mumbled apprehensively, though he really wanted to say "good" in a rude manner. His polite disposition prevented him from doing that, however, and he returned his rather flat eyes to Elise.
The Japanese boy eyed her hand hesitantly when she held it out to shake, knowing that hand had held her underwear. So he would be touching her...panties...indirectly. He fought another blush as he tried not to over-think the friendly gesture. Realizing he was being impolite by the prolonged pause, Kiku shook her hand quickly. He personally preferred a respectful, disconnected bow but if the Westerners wanted to exchange diseases through physical contact, so be it.
"V-very nice to meet you also. My name is Kiku Honda, and I'm from Japan." he replied, uncertain of how good his English was, and tried to smile again.
He looked around the room for a moment, noticing three open beds. Kiku knew he was picking his own poison and just went with one pushed against the same wall as Elise's. He figured she was a kind girl and he'd just caught her at a bad time. He didn't know how he would react if the equivalent happened to him.
He set his meager suitcase on top of the plain covers and turned to look at the Belgian, deciding to unpack later. "Ah...would you like to finish without my presence?" he asked, trying to keep his eyes on her face and not her underwear drawer.

So she stood for what felt like an eternity and then some feeling like some crazed lunatic with her hand extended out to this complete stranger. Not understanding why he was hesitating, Elise examined her own hand quickly and deduced it was not dirty nor was it covered in some infections disease which spread on contact. Still a bit confused, the blond girls brain barley registered when Kiku reached out and shook her hand for the briefest of seconds before she even had the time to give a firm shake. Well, that was certainly an experience, he acted like she was the soul carrier of the Plague that had wiped out half of Europe, taking back her hand the now non blushing girl debated teaching this boy some manner, when suddenly. A light popped on in the Belgians mind who let out a light chuckle as she rubbed the back of her head. "Sorry about all that, I forgot you were from Japan!" Now feeling like quite a fool, the girl slapped herself on the head before stepping away from the boy. "I've never met a person from Japan before; tell me, how do you greet a stranger back home?" "In Belgium, we have three languages: Dutch, French, and German but for now I'll just teach you the dutch. "Hoi, Leuk je U te ontmoeten. Mijn naam is Elise Demotte." Giving the boy a very wide smile she went threw an awkward glance over her shoulder to the drawer she'd choosen for more personal articles of clothing. "Naw..." casually she flicked away the thought of him leaving. "It's already put away, besides..if we're going to be living together... I guess we should get used to eachother?" The words 'living' and 'together' were heavy and she was barley able to get them out. Still, this Kiku persona didn't seem so bad. "So, what part of Japan are you from Kiku?" (*stabs awful post with a knife.* Don't look at it, its ugly! )

He smiled faintly at her moment of recognition, nodding. The Japanese male excused her faux pas and presumed most of the European and American students would make the same mistake. He realized it would be impolite if he didn't partake in Western customs and that one of the benefits of this experience was to learn and adapt to other cultures. Kiku would now be sure to observe more closely and imitate when appropriate. He was slightly concerned about the extreme differences between the East and West but the mysteries of this new hemisphere fascinated him, especially the different languages he'd heard already.
Kiku found Dutch to be even more complicated and strange than English. He noticed the pronunciations very similar between the two, or at least in comparison to Eastern languages like Japanese and Chinese. He thought Elise's language was a bit rougher-sounding than English, similar to German, which he'd heard before.
Answering her question, he bowed after quickly delivering a polite greeting. "Hajimemashite Erisu-san, Watashi no namae wa Honda Kiku desu. Doozo yoroshiku. In Japanese, 'How do you do, Eri--Elise? My name is Kiku Honda. It is very nice to meet you.'" The Japanese boy cursed his mispronunciation of the letter 'l,' slightly annoyed that his roommate's name had the pesky sound in it.
He threatened to turn a rosy color again when she said 'living together' almost as if they were married or something to that effect. Kiku nodded again, nonetheless, and leaned against his bed while he faced the Belgian girl. "I am from a small town, rather far from any big cities. I do not like Tokyo very much...I prefer peace and quiet." he replied calmly, face nearly emotionless. "El-Elise-san, if I am not mistaken, Belgium is near France and Germany, correct? How is it there?"
---- ooc; I'll warn you that I don't know Japanese at all. xDDD That was from some website, so who knows if it's right. ;; Spain helped, so that should be about right. :3 Gracias! Arigatou~
